Kimberly Broderick Story
My journey to Clear Perspective EyeCare didn't begin in an exam room or an optical. It began with a degree in business, a three-year-old daughter by my side, and a determination to build a future for us.
I graduated from the University of New Mexico's Anderson School of Management in December 1995 while navigating a divorce and raising my young daughter. I had put myself through school working as an accounting software consultant and, after graduation, spent a year with a local CPA firm. At the time, I had no idea that those experiences would eventually lead me to eye care.
My introduction to optometry came through the back office, handling accounting and financial management for a local optometrist. Before long, I was helping several optometric practices with their accounting. As finding qualified staff became increasingly difficult, I began stepping outside the accounting office and learning the business from the ground up.
I learned insurance billing and denials, doctor credentialing, inventory purchasing, practice-management software, patient flow, staffing, operations, marketing, and nearly every other piece required to keep an independent eye care practice running successfully. What began as accounting gradually became a career—and a genuine passion for the business of eye care.
After a brief time away from the industry, I returned in 2009 to manage a local Albuquerque optical practice. Over the next several years, I helped grow the business while developing its branding, marketing, systems, and operations.
In May 2016, I took another major step and opened the practice that would eventually become Clear Perspective EyeCare. Two years later, in 2018, I purchased Muller Optical along with the building our practice calls home today.
Like most worthwhile journeys, mine hasn't followed a perfectly straight path. There have been successes, difficult lessons, unexpected changes, and moments that forced me to decide what I wanted my business—and my future—to look like.
Eventually, I realized it was time to build something that truly reflected the practice I had worked so hard to create.
Clear Perspective EyeCare was born.
The name represents more than a rebrand to me. It represents independence, experience, perseverance, and finally seeing clearly where I wanted to go.
Today, I'm incredibly proud that Clear Perspective EyeCare is locally owned and independently operated. We aren't guided by a corporate office or sales quotas. The decisions we make are made right here, based on what we believe is best for our patients, our employees, and the community we serve.
When I look back at the young mother putting herself through business school in 1995, I don't think she could have imagined where the journey would lead.
But more than 30 years later, I can finally say I have a Clear Perspective on exactly where I belong.
